The way we treat other

Yep... just like it says. Go ahead and brag to everyone about how you make the world a better place. :-)

I think making the world better is cool.

The way we treat other

Yea, the other threads here are about projects, but the biggest thing we can do to improve this world is to improve the way we treat each other. All you have to do is look through youTube and you see all the negative people that look to criticize. I do prefer people that try to encourage. Yea, there is constructive criticism, but you rarely see it online. If you want to improve the world, start with how you treat each other.

So true. Online though, people have the cover of anonymity, so it's much easier to be critical and say mean things.

Treat others the way you would like to be treated is my mantra.

Yep... treating eachother better sure would be nice. imagine all the time, energy, and resources we'd save if we weren't disrespectful to eachother.

No more need for locks, or passwords. No need to restore your computer because it got hacked.... again. No need for lawyers, or noisy annoying security systems. No throwing out food because its more profitable that way... ya, being nice to eachother sure would solve a lot of problems. Imagine if people based their decisions not on money they can greedily collect, but on maximum happiness. Not just their happiness, but others.

Yeah, just think of all the other rules that wouldn't have to even exist if the Golden Rule was honored and applied in life.

Im a firm believer in Khama, treat others with respect and it will only make things better. To quote one of Jaimie's video's from a while back, doing nice things and not being a cruel person, building projects instead of playing computer games all day, meeting others instead of ignoring them based on first impressions, all that will just fill up your inner fulfillment tank, and your happiness and excitement tanks :-) people that take drugs may get a brief burst of happiness and excitement, but their fulfillment tank will remain at zero. There's a moral there...
Duct tape is the like the force, it has a light side, and a dark side, and it holds the universe together

I think the biggest problem with the way we treat each other is that it is generally considered OK to use government to aggress upon others... get rid of that practice and I think the world would be a much better place.

Has anyone here ever heard of the "non-aggression principle"? It goes like this:

"Do not initiate force or fraud."

I try to live my life by that principle, but then I am forced to pay taxes, which fund government aggression on people like tax evaders, gamblers, illegal drug users, building code ignorers etc. So I feel crappy inside for contributing to something I see as unjust. I am making an effort to become as self-sufficient as possible mainly so that I don't have to contribute so much to propping up a system I disagree with.

It is easy to blame the bad things in the world on government or big business or some political group. The problem with that is that blaming doesn't fix anything. That is why I believe in focusing on what I can do and hopefully influencing others to do the same.

Yup - that's what I don't like either. People start out sounding reasonable, but then it's quickly onto blaming various people (or more usually, groups of people) for all their troubles.

Kudos on this thread sjvsworldtour. It's amazing how much of an effect negative energy has on the world. If we all try to be positive and supportive in our interactions with others; just imagine the power in that!

I rarely comment on YouTube and reddit because of all the negativity. This forum is such a breath of fresh air.

Yea, not being negative is the biggest thing we could all do. There are other things. For instance, if I see someone with their hood up in a parking lot, I usually offer a jump start. You can save someone a lot of heartache over a few minutes of your time.

Another good example was once I had a flat in a parking lot. I had a spare, but when I tried to take the tire off, the lug wrench broke. Someone stopping and offering help would have saved me a ton of time.

I had car problems not long ago and needed a jump. It was nearly midnight, but a guy coming out of a store took the time to help me. It took a while because I had a wiring issue I wasn't aware of, so I gave him $20 for his time.

Other examples are things like helping people carry stuff. I have had to ask neighbors occasionally to help me move furniture. I really appreciate the hand.

We also had the power out for a while this last winter and I had a bunch of candles. I just gave my neighbour a few. I got them cheap and it wasn't a big deal to me, but probably meant a lot to him.
