Nice to meet you too! I don't like shopping much, and don't watch much TV. I gave up TV for a year back in the late 90's and never really went back to it. I do occasionally watch stuff on the internet now though. TV is such a huge time sink...and I just cannot take the commercials anymore (it's like half the show). My wife and daughter watch internet TV too much probably (Hulu and Netflix mostly).
San Francisco -- and Northern California in general -- is a great place for doing outdoors stuff. The temperature is generally not too cold, but not too hot to get a workout (average around 62F in SF). We have a lot of urban park land and national parks nearby. Also the air quality is usually quite good due to a pretty constant wind off the ocean. I do feel bad for our inland neighbors though; as that's where all our auto pollution goes. I hope more people limit their auto use in the future; or use more electric vehicles.
You are lucky to live in Colorado! It's pretty hard to beat Colorado for natural beauty. I visited as a child and have wanted to go back ever since.
I don't actively turn on any TV's, but I do passively watch some from time to time. But I can't stand the commercials anymore either, and most of the programming is a drain. I want to learn and be intrigued.
I went on a 2 month road trip earlier this year, from Colorado to Indiana, New Mexico, Las Vegas, then all the way up and down the West Coast. I was lucky enough to stay in San Fran for a week and a half, and several places in Northern Cali. It was magnificent! I had a great time, met cool people, and like you said, it's a good environment for doing things outside. Northern California has a unique attitude, too. There were a LOT of vehicles up there that were modified, homemade, rebuilt, etc. It was fun being around creative people that don't throw everything away.
I am still in Colorado though, and it's unreal. I grew up in rural Indiana, and I didn't know places like this existed. After I left college, I ended up in Washington DC, then Baltimore and Miami. I didn't get along with the cities on the East Coast. I moved here and haven't been able to leave. I can walk to the mountains, ride my mtn bike so many places, snowboard, hike, run, etc. And so can everyone else, so people are much more active than most places in the US. I also have a garage now, so my building capabilities have increased. Now I just have to find more time!
