Hello!
Its frikkin' awesome there's a forum for similarly minded people to post their projects and ideas! I really wish I'd found this forum sooner, it looks like its been here for a while. My name's Knux, you might have seen a couple of the videos I've posted on YouTube. Jamie was a huge inspiration to basically do something with my life, before I discovered the Giant Robot Project I was flitting between jobs, mostly unable to 'settle' into one and get myself a life long career. Then I discovered this strange man living in a Dome out in the forest, off the grid and living pretty self-sufficiently, I gotta admit it changed my life. I stopped caring what people thought of my life and realized I could do so much more without such restraints.
Luckily, and almost as if it was supposed to happen, I came into some money. With £150 I bought myself a pretty destroyed Renault Trafic. With a lot of help from my friends we managed to drive/tow it back to Essex. The engine was a total wreck, and I only studied Vehicle Paint and Body repair at college. I'm not an engineer. Our plan was to do the entire project by recycling or repairing what we already had.
We got to work removing the original interior (it had been a mini-bus) and over the course of the first few videos we came to meet a lot of like minded people, I also started watching more videos from other 'Creators' such as Ben Heckendorn, Jeri Elsworth, GreenPowerScience etc.
One of the people we came to know over the course of the videos is Cashman, an engineer from 4 counties away. He sourced us a working engine for a very low price. Myself and a friend managed to remove the old engine and replace it with the working one, it was difficult. Like I said, we're not engineers.
It didn't run, we couldn't work out where some of the wiring went and some bits were different. However after a few more messages between myself and Cashman, he came down!! He drove all the way here just to help some random guy on the internet with his beat up van. After being here an hour he managed to get it running, he really is a true hero. The feeling of warmth I got knowing that there are still AMAZING people in the world was incredible.
Once the engine was running, we completed the interior. As it stands now the bus only needs a bumper before it can go for its M.O.T.
The plan, once we're all legal (Tax, Insurance etc) is to do a round the world trip. Leaving from Essex in the UK and ending up in North America. We plan to meet as many inspirational people as we go, like Dan Rojas of GreenPowerScience, his knowledge of solar power and pest control would help with further projects I am now working towards. If we manage to visit Ben Heckendorn then we could learn a great deal about computing systems and CAD/CAM to help with designing future projects. Jamie is also on our list of people to visit, as he was the inspiration behind sorting my life out for the better.
We're also going to visit as many of the people who have contributed or aided in the Super-Bus Project. Some may even be joining us on our tour as a lot are similarly minded with working caravan style vehicles.
To watch the Super-Bus Project and its related projects such as Little Brother (Another vehicle in the convoy) feel free to check out the videos on my channel at YouTube:

We happily welcome any and all suggestions towards all aspects of the trip and the bus, if anyone knows a better route then the one posted then please get in touch. Got ideas for what the bus could use? Let us know and we'll work towards getting it done. Any input is welcomed =D
I can't wait to see what other awesome stuff this forum has to offer, hopefully with this sort of thing set up we can all help each-other with projects.
Peace,
Knux
