Home Studio Build Project

Postby stashvault » Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:38 am

General update on my home basement studio build. I already did a quick post on the turntable stand I built a couple weeks ago.

Since then I've put a few more things together. I built a stand for these green sound absorption panels, making them into a moveable gobo for recording.

I added a tray/shelf to this rack workstation for keyboards and various midi controllers.

I've mainly used materials I got for free, or leftovers from other projects to clean the place up and make it useable.

Today I built one of these:

It's a 3d QRD diffuser to break up sound waves in a recording studio. It will be mounted vertical on a gobo similar to the sound absorption panels. I'm slowly building, one piece at a time.

Very nice. My Dad owns a recording studio up in London which is super cool, he just upgraded his stuff recently too...so i got all the old stuff! Built a little studio for my band and stuff at the end of the garden :) there's some footage on Youtube, I'll try and dig some up. Keep up the awesome work mate!

EDIT: here's the video of my dads studio: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheShowreel ... Ww4V9g9vN0

Thanks. Your dad's studio looks pretty nice. Building something like that has to be fun.

Any pics of your place? What kind of band do you have?

There are some videos of me building the studio, here's one:

My band does all genres, here is a song we did a while ago:

Awesome one the studio build. Looks like you can make things happen there. It's fun seeing progress as things come together. Sounds like you have fun playing music, and that's the most important part!

I got my diffusors mounted on an adjustable stand recently. It's all built out of pine. Have a couple people interested in buying some of these for their studios, and a local restaurant. We'll see.
