Fiskars Axe. Greatest axe in the universe!

Cost me 40$, and its amazing! The handle is a little shorter than standard axe, but the head stays sharp, and has a thin profile so it cuts twice as deep as the 2nd best axe I've ever used. The handle is some kind of plastic super indestructible stuff. Like carbon fibre or something, I don't remember exactly, but its really strong, and lightweight.

One day I did manage to break the head off chopping a frozen birch log. I called the company, told then what happened, they asked what my address is, and to me amazement, they said, "We'll send a replacement right away."

Woah.... seriously, I've never had such a great customer service experience, and I was back to chopping in a few days with a brand new mega axe!

That's great! And such a great idea for a forum!

May I suggest that we let people know where the easiest place to get whatever you're suggesting is though? Like "I bought mine at home depot or on this website" kind of stuff.

Oh, good point. Ya, I bought mine at Home Depot originally, but they don't sell them anymore. I do see them at smaller hardware stores. ..and I'm pretty sure you can order 'em online.

Here in Scotland we have DIY stores and one chain is closing down so as usual I had a trek to see what I could spend some money on.

I love the idea of getting a fiskars axe until I found one in the closing down sale at £75!!!!!! Blimey...... Even with 30% off it is still too rich for me.

You can get Fiskars at WallyWorld (WalMart) these days.
I actually prefer the Estwing brand having owned/used/abused both.

If you really want a good axe tho, nothing comes close to a Granfors Bruks

If you look on the bottom of the page they have other pages filled with things like adze's (ok, how do you pluralize adze ?) and honest for real reproduction battle axes.
